Take the Belay Class
Learn to belay and gain access to our entire facility for top-rope climbing with your partner(s).

This course teaches essential skills and techniques for safe belaying. Parents are encouraged to take the class to actively participate in their child’s climbing journey, making the experience more rewarding for both.

Age Requirements

NOTE: Participants must be 14 years or older to take the Top Rope Belay Class or belay at Rocksport.

CERTIFICATION

  1. Same- Day Practice
    After successfully completing the course, you'll be able to purchase a day pass and practice belaying in our gym for the rest of that day. However, please note that you are not yet certified to belay independently.

  2. Test for Certification on Your Next Visit
    Pass the Top Rope Belay Assessment on your next visit and climb independently every time you come in! Same day certification is not permitted.

  3. Certification Requirement
    It’s important to test out on your next visit to ensure you've retained the necessary skills for safe climbing practices. This certification is required to use the top-rope walls without reserved staff assistance. Belay certification tags are required to be worn and visible at all times in Rocksport Climbing.

  4. Great for Climbing with Friends & Family
    This course is perfect if you want to climb with friends, family, or children. You'll learn the basics needed to enjoy roped climbing on your own in the future.
